Alabama Public Television and MGB Model Railroad Club have successful partnership. May 24, 2010

Sunday night Alabama Public Television aired "Celebrating Steam Railways - Telling the Story of Steam". MGB Model Railroad Club Members and Friends manned the phones to take pledges for APT. It turned out to be a very successful night for all involved. APT had 106 pledges and 77 of those were new to APT. The total pledged for the evening was $16,620 which was the best live pledge event for APT in the last 6 years. Even better was the fact that APT was still fielding calls today for additional pledges. The MGB Model Railroad Club had similar success. Our website had 55 visitors Sunday smashing its previous one day visitor count of 23. Thanks to all of you that support APT and the MGB Model Railroad Club.

The MGBRR Website gets Enhancements, New Content, and long lost Photos added March 20, 2010.

The MGB Model Railroad Club has really been on fire lately - so much going on, there is no way to cover it. We have had recent visitors from Ohio, Florida, and South Carolina. Our operating sessions are really doing well now, moving lots of trains and shuffling lots of cars. We received many donations of rolling stock, assistance with maintenance, and model assembly and detailing. Scenery is coming along with buildings popping up everywhere, and just the overall fun has really picked up. Even the website has undergone several enhancements.

Video page updated to include more model and live action

The MGB websites video page was updated with a built in player and a longer listing of the clubs videos. Currently that list includes videos from some past open house events. Couple of videos from the layout that started it all, version 1. One of our most popular videos is of the clubs switching layout. This portable layout was built to take to shows and open houses to give people a chance to run trains and find their inner child again. There is a brand new video of live train action. This is a collage of train watching from around the country.

MGB Member Gary Maitland received his NMRA Achievement Program Certificate "Master Builder - Structures" in May, 2006. Gary not only builds fantastic structures, he is a writer. Why is that important you ask? Well Gary would like to become an NMRA "Master Model Railroader". To do this, he needs to work towards more Achievement Program Certificates. One of which is "Author". So you and many others can improve your own modeling skills from his lessons. So choose an article, sit back, enjoy, dream, then make your dream a reality on your own diorama or layout.
